Tree Reductions

Crown Reductions/Pruning

There are a number of reasons a tree surgeon may need to carry out a reduction on a trees crown. Some of these reasons may include:

  • alleviating the weight of branches to reduce the danger of branches/the tree failing and causing harm/damage to nearby buildings, footways, shrubs or other trees.
  • to reduce the trees ‘wind sail’ if there are any concerns of the tree being wind thrown.
  • to allow more light into a property, garden, lawn shrubs etc.
  • to improve the trees aesthetics.

Depending on the species of the tree can depend on how much wood you can remove from it, just ask us and we can talk you through the different options. All work is carried out to BS3998 to ensure the safety of your tree.

Crown Thinning

Crown thinning is typically carried out by a tree surgeon to allow more light through a trees canopy or to reduce the trees ‘wind sail’ to lessen the chances of wind throw. The Tree surgeon will remove selective branches evenly from within the crown to make the tree less dense but keeping the width and height of the tree the same. All our work is carried out to BS3998 to ensure your trees safety.

Crown Lifting

Crown lifting is typically carried out by a tree surgeon to allow access if:

  • the lower branches are obstructing any pedestrians, buildings, vehicles etc.
  • to improve a trees aesthetics.
  • to allow light to pass to lawns, beds, borders, shrubs, properties etc.

If a trees crown is lifted to 4 meters, growth (usually secondary) up to 4 meters from the ground will be removed from the tree avoiding any major (scaffold) branches if possible. all work is carried out to BS3998 to ensure the safety of your tree.
